When reporting your income or your company's yearly income for taxation purposes, there are many forms that have to be filled out. From 1040's to 8842's, taxation forms can be a very intimidating process to carry out on one's own.      

The federal government levies a tax on personal income. The federal income tax provides for national programs such as defense, foreign affairs, law enforcement, and interest on the national debt.

Individuals are not the only ones required to file income tax returns. Corporations do as well. While they are subject to may of the same rles as are individual taxpayers, they are also covered by an intricate body of rules addressed to the peculiar problems of corporations.

A W-2 Form reflects all taxable wages you received from USC during the calendar year and all taxes withheld from those wages. The form serves as an annual report that enables you to file your personal income tax return with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Form W-2 reports only wages paid during the year, regardless of when they were earned; that is, it does not include amounts earned but not paid until the next year. The University mails out W-2 forms to all employees by no later than January 31 each year.

The IRS allows taxpayers to file one of three tax forms -- a Form 1040EZ, a 1040A or a 1040. With multiple options, it can be difficult to discover the most fitting way to file your return for 2005. \
