The IRS allows taxpayers to file one of three tax forms -- a Form 1040EZ, a 1040A or a 1040. With multiple options, it can be difficult to discover the most fitting way to file your return. An attorney knowledgeable of taxation law can help guide you with this decision as well as others related to tax law.

Individuals are not the only ones required to file income tax returns. Corporations do as well. While they are subject to many of the same rules as are individual taxpayers, they are also covered by an intricate body of rules addressed to the specific problems of corporations.

Some of the commonly used Income Tax Forms include:

  • Form 1040 - This form is often referred to as the “long form” and is used by full-time residents of the United States with uncomplicated tax situations.
  • Form 1040A - A shorter version also known as the “short form” of 1040. This form is limited to certain taxpayers who take standard deduction rather than itemizing deductions.
  • Form 1040EZ - This form is an Income Tax Return form for single and joint filers with no dependents. It is a simplified 1040 Tax Return also referred to as the “easy form.”
  • Forms 1040NR and 1040NR-EZ - These forms are used by nonresident aliens filing for tax returns. 1040NR-EZ is considered to be the “easy” version.
  • Form 1040X - This form is also known as the Amended U.S. Individual Tax Return, and is used in making corrections to one of the 1040 tax return forms which have been previously filed.
  • Form 1041 - This form is used specifically by estates and trusts.
  • Form 1065 - This form is used solely by partnerships.
  • Form 1120 - Tax return form used by C-corporations.
  • Form 1120S - Tax return form used by S-corporations.
  • Form W-2 - Is a Wage and Tax Statement that reflects all taxable wages you received during the calendar year and all taxes withheld from those wages. The form serves as an annual report that enables you to file your personal income tax return with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Our tax lawyers can assist you with all taxation forms including those listed above. They are also willing to answer your questions regarding the laws that apply to your specific situation.

The average annual income in 1913 was $800.

Back in 1913 tax rates ranged from one to seven percent on incomes above $3,000. This tax rate doesn't sound like much until you consider the average annual income for the time.
