“Tax Day Tea Party” Demonstration Scheduled for Wednesday in Washington

Tuesday April 14, 2009

According to several sources, the Evergreen Freedom Foundation from Olympia, Washington is planning a “Tax Day Tea Party” to protest raised taxes and exorbitant government spending. The rally will take place on the Capitol steps, where lawmakers are currently discussing the $9 billion gap between the projected budget and expected tax revenue.

Lawmakers in Washington have discussed cutting the budget and raising taxes to meet this gap. However, the Evergreen Freedom Foundation says that this gap does not exist and is questioning the necessity of cuts and increases.

Rallies, such as the one planned in Olympia, will occur across the country on tax day. Many American citizens are fed up with government spending and are demanding that records be more transparent to the people of the United States.

The events take their name from the historical “Boston Tea Party,” in which American colonists dumped tea into the Boston Harbor to protest illegal taxes imposed by the British Crown. This occasion played a crucial role in the road to the American Revolution and changed the way that the American colonists were perceived by the rest of the world forever.
